The public transit system in Coquitlam is operated by Translink. There is a regular bus service with many routes that connect the city to Vancouver. Beginning in the fall of 2016, the new Evergreen Line will start its operation of rapid train service connecting Coquitlam Town Centre and Port Moody to Lougheed Town Centre and the Millennium Line Skytrain to Downtown Vancouver. Like the rest of the lower mainland, Coquitlam and the Tri-Cities are also served by the Vancouver International Airport in Richmond.


The School District No. 43 operates 45 elementary, 14 middle schools, and 11 high schools in Coquitlam. There are also several independent private schools in the area, and some public universities.
