About Vita Kalns

Vita was born and raised on Vancouver’s Westside, where she grew up spending her winters with her family at the local mountains or summers in the Gulf islands, truly making Vancouver her “backyard.” She still cherishes her weekends skiing and snowboarding up at Whistler, or jumping on her Harley Davidson to enjoy an island jaunt. Riding a motorcycle is not only an uplifting experience for Vita, but has also increased her mindfulness in Real Estate deals, as well as exercising caution and exercising calculated risk. Vita will grab every chance she can to ride her beach cruiser, “the Pink Pearl,” around her Kits Point neighbourhood, the ultimate spot to live in the city.

 

 

Not your typical REALTOR®, Vita has had a variety of life experiences that have shaped her into the accomplished individual that she is. She spent 10 years in the film industry, spearheading services for local and international productions, which demanded flexibility, problem solving, efficiency and detailed multitasking – skills which serve her well in the real estate business. She is a graduate of the University of Victoria with a double major in English and Art History, and is a trained chef. If you ever watch Hell’s Kitchen, you can appreciate that working in a kitchen can be a pressure cooker, and the ability to deal with deadlines and high-stress situations can transfer into being a very helpful tool in Real Estate.

 

Vita has travelled extensively and lived in Hong Kong, where she partnered in a successful event production company. Vancouver is renowned for being culturally diverse, and having an understanding of this cultural mosaic has been very rewarding and fruitful when doing business here. A daughter of Latvian immigrants who fled Stalin’s tyranny in Western Europe during World War II, Vita has been raised with a strong work ethic and respect for humanity.

 

A proud Latvian, Vita grew up singing and dancing with her countrymen, something she still enjoys doing today. Singing Latvia’s national anthem always brings a tear to her eye. Her family is full of Architects, Engineers, and Real Estate Developers; thus, being a REALTOR® is a natural fit in this environment of building designs, construction and land deals. A supporter of the Food Bank, Union Gospel Mission and Rain City Housing, Vita believes that no one should go hungry or be without a home. Vita has been a recipient of Macdonald Realty’s Top Producers’ award since 2006 and earned membership in REBGV’s Medallion Club since 2007.
