Over the last year and a half, the BC Provincial Government has passed multiple pieces of legislation aimed at housing supply and affordability. Bill 44, which took effect on June 30 this year, rezoned all single-family lots for multiplex development in BC, allowing for three to six units per lot. In this piece for The Georgia Strait, Macdonald Realty President Jonathan Cooper looks at a number of challenges incurred by this new legislation, as well as suggestions for the government to lessen specific financial barriers.
