Ahmed came to the real estate industry with a valuable architectural background. He believes that the worlds of real estate and architecture are not so far apart. For a real estate agent, a background in architecture can be a significant asset for working with clients and can make a world of difference to keen clients.
Ahmed’s background and education has allowed him to carry valuable skills; he pays attention to special details, has a deep understanding and appreciation of a property’s style, design and spatial features, and has an eye for changes that benefit any property.
Why did you decide to pursue a career in real estate? My background is in architecture. I was an architect so I’ve always loved buildings. I also liked trading, so a combination of these two was what shaped my decision.
How did you go about securing your very first client in the real estate industry? My first client was a friend who wanted to purchase a condo. We did many viewings and after few months, he decided to write an offer. But what’s interesting is, after the offer got accepted, he decided to rescind. The Home Buyer Rescission Period had just been implemented within the real estate industry. I think I’m the first and only REALTOR® whose client rescinded their offer in his first transaction. I felt down, BUT it was definitely a great experience. And he ended up buying a condo couple of months later!! Wow!
What strategies or tactics do you believe contributed the most to your success as a rookie? There is no specific strategy I follow. I’m still trying to find my own strategy but my advice will be: put in the effort and be consistent.
If you could give one piece of advice to someone just starting in real estate, what would it be? If you feel down, that’s very normal, just keep going, it will change! I remind myself of this all the time.
