Brooke Voigt, a long-time resident of the Sea to Sky corridor and two-time Olympian, grew up in Alberta as part of a hard working family that focussed their efforts on real estate endeavours. This exposed her to the intricacies of the process and stoked her passion for real estate from a young age, as well as inspired her to take on renovation and build projects of her own. Read on to learn more about Brooke’s real estate career, how she secured her first client, and her advice for aspiring agents.
Why did you decide to pursue a career in real estate? I decided to pursue a career in real estate because I’ve always had a passion for homes and architecture. Additionally, I was drawn to the flexibility and potential for financial independence that a career in real estate offers. The opportunity to help people find their dream homes and make significant life decisions was also a major motivator for me.
How did you go about securing your very first client in the real estate industry? I secured my first client when a colleague in my office, who had a local listing, referred an unrepresented buyer to me. The buyer needed assistance, and, my colleague, knowing I was new and eager to take on clients, gave me the opportunity. This referral was a significant step in helping me get started and build my confidence.

What strategies or tactics do you believe contributed the most to your success as a rookie? As a rookie, I attribute my success to being open to learning and asking for help when I needed it. I tried to be dependable and responsive, making sure to follow up with clients and leads in a timely manner. I also focused on listening to my clients’ needs and doing my best to meet them. I believe that my genuine effort to provide good service and my willingness to learn from others played a big role.
If you could give one piece of advice to someone just starting in real estate, what would it be? My one piece of advice to someone just starting in real estate would be to be patient and persistent. Success in real estate doesn’t happen overnight, and it’s important to stay motivated even when things are slow.
